On the occasion of the Year of the Humanities 2007, seven German academies joined in the European Union will present 17 of their research projects on cultures in the ancient mediterranean region.
Spread across the entire Pergamon Museum and the top floor of Altes Museum, the presentation consists of 17 project stations, precise sketches of up-to-date research enterprises on a variety of subjects - from an ancient Egyptian dictionary and literary texts in cuneiform writing from Assur, to Augustin as Doctor of the Church - which enter a dialogue with the numerous original works from the archaeological collections on the Museum Island. The Egyptian Museum, the Collection of Classical Aniquities, the Museum of Islamic Art, and the Museum of the Ancient Near East jointly present themselves as a competence centre for archaeology and a partner of top-level archaeological research among the German academies.
