The
focal point in this section of the exhibition is the leather tent (tipi)
which was sold to the Royal Prussian Art Chamber in 1846. The paintings
on the tipi show a sacred pipe, two sun symbols and numerous mythical
animals indicating that this tent had a purely ceremonial function. It
is one of the few surviving examples made of buffalo skin. The tent is
surrounded with a variety of items of leather clothing, richly decorated
with porcupine quills or glass beads.
